Paint and Color

It is an exciting time of year as two major paint producers - Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams - announce their color and design predictions for 2017.

Benjamin Moore announced it's 2017 Color of the Year - Shadow. It's a deep purple hue that's romantic, thoughtful and dramatic. Architecturaldigest.com discussed the discovery of Shadow with Ellen O'Neill, Benjamin Moore Creative Director. She comments, "It is a little bit rock and roll. It’s the color of the galaxy but also the color of a beautiful fig. It’s passion, it’s bravery, but it’s also silence." Read the article at the link below and let us know what you think. Are you ready to leave the neutral grays that have dominated recent design?

Sherwin Williams forecasts a Color Mix for 2017 too. We attended a preview yesterday with our lovely and recently married Sherwin Williams rep, Amanda Lowery, at the Ethan Allen in Vienna. Again neutrals faded away and balanced the bolder and "restless" hues like Black Swan, Gale Force, Kimono Violet and Sealskin. Check out this palette from the Noir, one of four thoughtful and creative collections.

The Belvedere

We have a new listing in Clarendon or maybe its Courthouse at The Belvedere. This home has stunning views of the Washington Monument and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial across the Potomac River. Don't think we didn't spend a little time ogling those beauties from the sunroom on installation day. What a cool location in a building full of amenities. Check out the listing (and the staging).

Genius Idea - Updated

Fill bookshelves with the book spines turned around and they become a solid color that's full of depth plus they are a conversation starter. Heather incorporated this idea in a dining room that doubles as a library at a home that's coming on the market soon. It turned out super cool and funky... We LOVE it!

Update - The listing is live and included here. Check out this wonderful, warm and artistic home.

Summer is over...

...and we're already back in full swing with staging for the fall market. Here's a few fun "before and after" photos of the house we staged today.

Front Doors

Fell in love with this front door especially from the inside of the home. Staging is so creative and every house is so unique. We are very lucky to work in this growing industry.

Summer at Stylism

Summer is in full swing at Stylism and between vacations, camps and kids we are having fun and rolling with it all. In case you are wondering why we haven't been online much it's because we've been spending time on our own infrastructure. Here are some photos of us building our new heavy duty metal shelves so we can purge and organize our inventory after a very busy spring season. Can't prepare for fall too soon.

No, we didn't plan to coordinate our outfits!

"My Top Three Design Tips. Ever"

Are we the only ones who spend all sorts of time reading design blogs? I mean despite not having enough hours in the day to cross off items on our to do lists, we can't stay away from a long list of Stylism favorites like Emily Henderson, Becki Owens, The Jungalow, Amber Interiors, Caitlin Wilson...

The inspiration in endless. Today this post really resonated because it reminds us that design doesn't have to be crazy expensive or insanely creative. Get started by following these three basic guidelines as defined by Emily Henderson. If you still want more, then contact us!

Turnberry Towers - Again

Last year we staged at the luxurious Turnberry Towers in Arlington, and we've had another opportunity with real estate agent Michelle Sagatov. The results are some of my favorite of Stylism's work. Thanks Michelle and good luck to the lovely homeowners that are selling this to move with their young daughter to their new single family home.

Exclusive Photos

Last week we staged this newer construction home with a fantastic floor plan in a desirable North Arlington neighborhood. It was a beauty before we came in but after our updates including painting new colors, moving furniture and hanging art, the house was a real stunner. So beautiful, in fact, that the neighbor two doors down made a healthy offer before the home even officially hit the market! These pictures never made it online but the agent was kind enough to let us show them here (or click the link for a full view).

Lancaster

We can't believe that this one hasn't sold yet! The family that built this house was incredibly thoughtful and you can feel it when you walk through the home. Plus who doesn't LOVE the exterior colors? It's a "must see" property staged by Stylism!

Oh and did we mention the pool...? Oh and the little back house...?

DunCraig

Occasionally we get to stage for a family twice within just a couple of years and we did just that last week. Lucky for us this family is both interesting and creative and, no surprise, their home reflects the same qualities. Lucky for us again because it's fun to stage with abstract art, stylish furniture, and a mid-century vibe. Be sure to check out the listing soon because redfin.com tagged it a Hot Home and predicts it will sell within 12 days.
